Beginner-friendly session on partner acrobatics covering basing, flying, spotting and entry-level poses; no partner or experience needed.
Impact Martial Arts (North) is hosting a Free Intro to Acro Yoga class on Thursday, September 17, from 8 PM to 9:30 PM. If you've ever seen people doing partner acrobatics and wondered how they actually get into those poses, this is exactly where you start. It's a beginner-friendly session that breaks down the basics of the practice from the ground up.
They'll spend the ninety minutes walking through the three core roles of acro yoga: basing, flying, and spotting. The base is the person on the bottom, supporting the weight; the flyer is the one being lifted; and the spotter is the third person who stays close to ensure everyone stays safe. You'll get a feel for each role, so you can see how they work together to hold a pose. From there, you'll work through a handful of entry-level poses, the kind of things that get you moving and balancing without needing to be an athlete to keep up.
One of the best parts is that you don't need to bring a partner, and you don't need any prior experience. You'll be paired up with other people in the class, so you can just show up on your own and find your footing. It's a low-stakes way to try something that usually feels like it requires a whole crew to get started.
