A community 5K run and 2-mile walk with seven pace groups, free entry, prizes, snacks and hydration provided.
Follow the Guide Community Run/Walk is happening at 1010 E 2nd St on Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 1 PM. It's a 5K that doubles as a social gathering for Austin's running community, and the whole thing is built around accessibility rather than pure competition.
Instead of a single starting gun, there are seven pace groups running the course side by side, ranging from 7 to 16 minutes per mile. You just slot into the one that fits your speed and run with people moving at your same clip. If running isn't your thing, there's a walking option too, so you can still get out there without having to hit a specific pace.
There's a good bit of gear and food involved. More than 100 free shirts are given away on the day, and you'll need to RSVP to collect one and to enter the prize draw. Hydration and snacks are provided at the venue, so you're covered before and after you finish. The event is supported by a network of local partners and run clubs, including @dwellcoworking, @vagabond_running_physio, and @runhubatx, along with clubs like @austincoffeerunclub, @muellermamisrunclubatx, and @laketravisrunclub.
