Dreadneck Wednesdays: Mau Mau Chaplains with Tijuana Train Wreck

Dreadneck Wednesdays are back at Flamingo Cantina on Wednesday, September 2, as part of the weekly reggae series that's become a fixture of the Austin mid-week scene. The night is also called Dreadneck Night, and it's billed as the best regular reggae and ska show in town—the only place to be on a Wednesday night.

Taking the stage are the Mau Mau Chaplains, who've played here every Wednesday for the last decade. Between them, they bring several hundred years of collective reggae experience, and they've left their mark on the Sixth Street music scene over the years. Their sound pairs four-part harmonies with a driving reggae beat, and they're backed by a full horn section from the Tijuana Train Wreck, which they describe as a professional reggae orchestra.

It's not just about the music, either. The night serves authentic Jamaican food cooked up by Winston's Kitchen, so you can eat while you listen. And if you can't make it in person, the show streams live every Wednesday, so you can still catch it from home.
