Weekly reggae and ska night featuring the Mau Mau Chaplains and the Tijuana Train Wreck horn section, with authentic Jamaican food.
Dreadneck Wednesdays are back at Flamingo Cantina on Wednesday, September 30, as part of the weekly reggae series that's run there for more than a decade. It's billed as the best regular reggae and ska show in town and the only place to be on a Wednesday night. The Mau Mau Chaplains front the night, drawing on several hundred years of collective reggae experience and combining four-part harmonies with a driving beat and a full horn section from the Tijuana Train Wreck, which they call a professional reggae orchestra. Local acts join them on the bill.
The music is only one part of the night. Winston's Kitchen serves authentic Jamaican food, so you can eat while you listen. If you can't make it in person, the show streams each Wednesday around 10:30 PM on Flamingo Cantina's Facebook and YouTube, and from 11:00 to 11:30 PM on Austin Music TV.
