Honky-tonk dance lessons and live music at Sagebrush, taught by the popular Austin dance school Double or Nothing Two-Step.
Double or Nothing Two-Step is back at Sagebrush this Tuesday, October 13, for another round of honky-tonk dance lessons and live music. It's a drop-in class, so you don't need to sign up in advance—just show up and get on the floor.
If you've never heard of them, Double or Nothing is Austin's go-to honky-tonk dance school. Texas Monthly called them the city's most popular provider of country-dance lessons, and The Austin Chronicle named them best two-stepping lessons in its Best of Austin awards. They've taught more than 50,000 people to two-step, and their client list reads like a who's who of corporate Austin: Apple, Amazon, Google, TikTok, Starbucks, Red Bull, HBO Max, Tecovas, Kendra Scott, Cirque du Soleil, and the University of Texas. They've also been featured in Garden & Gun, Tribeza, and Austin Monthly.
They don't just do the Tuesday night thing, either. The duo teaches honky-tonk two-step and line dance through drop-in lessons at local honky-tonks, studio classes, private lessons, and online courses. They also run sessions for corporate events, weddings, bachelorette parties, and flash mobs, for groups from six to 6,000. If you're looking for something beyond the weekly drop-ins, they've got you covered there too.

Tuesday is the night for beginners, with the class starting at 6 PM. If you've already got the basics down, they run an advanced class on Sundays at 5 PM and an intermediate lesson on Sundays at 6 PM. The whole thing is 21+, and it's $10 cash at the door, which covers both the lesson and the live music that follows. You'll find them at Sagebrush, 5500 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78745.
