Honky-tonk dance lessons and live music take place at Sagebrush in Austin, taught by the popular local dance school.
Double or Nothing Two-Step is back at Sagebrush tonight, Tuesday, August 18, for another round of honky-tonk dance lessons. The class runs from 7 PM to 8 PM, and it's free to attend, though donations are welcome.
If you've never heard of them, Double or Nothing Two-Step is Austin's honky-tonk dance school. They're billed as the city's most popular provider of country-dance lessons, and they've picked up some local recognition along the way, taking home the award for best two-stepping lessons at The Austin Chronicle's Best of Austin Awards. They teach honky-tonk two-step and line dance, and you don't need a partner to join in, which is a good thing if you're rolling solo.
It's not just a neighborhood thing, either. The school has worked with some pretty high-profile corporate clients over the years, including Apple, Amazon, Google, TikTok, Starbucks, Red Bull, HBO Max, Tecovas, Kendra Scott, and Cirque du Soleil. They hold their lessons at partner honky-tonks and venues across Austin and the Texas Hill Country, and they teach the same style online, so you can keep practicing even when you're not at a dance hall.
