Two-step dance lessons led by Beth Coffey of Dancin' Austin at The White Horse.
Dancin' Austin holds Texas Two-Step lessons at The White Horse every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7 PM to 8 PM. It's a beginner-friendly hour: you show up, pick up the steps, and when the lesson wraps, the room fills with music and the dance floor stays open. If you've never stepped foot on a dance floor, this is a low-stakes way to get started.
The lessons are run by Beth Coffey, an eighth-generation Texan who's been teaching dance in Austin and Louisiana for more than ten years. She's also taught internationally in Sydney, Rotorua, and London, so she's used to working with people from all over. She holds a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership and Ethics from St. Edward's University and draws on her background in theatre, acting, and dancing, working from the motto "If you can walk, you can dance."
The sessions take place at The White Horse, the well-known White Horse Saloon on Comal Street. It's a spot where you can walk in as a total beginner and leave knowing the Texas Two-Step, and since the music keeps going after the lesson, you can put what you just learned into practice right then and there.

Logistically, it's easy: the lessons are donation-based, paid in cash or via Venmo, and there are no reservations, so you just show up. Keep in mind that after 7:30 PM a cover charge applies, so if you're planning to hang around and dance after the lesson, you'll want to factor that in. The White Horse is at 500 Comal Street, Austin, TX 78702.
