Multidisciplinary artist Tammy Nguyen presents new paintings, prints, and a handmade artist book in the Contemporary Project series.
Tammy Nguyen is showing at The Blanton Museum of Art through September 6, as part of the museum's Contemporary Project series. The exhibition brings together new paintings, prints, and a handmade artist book, so you'll see her work across a few different formats in one space.
Nguyen is a multidisciplinary artist who was born and raised in San Francisco. She earned her B.F.A. from Cooper Union in 2007 and her M.F.A. from Yale in 2013, and she was named a Guggenheim Fellow in 2023. She also publishes through her own imprint, Passenger Pigeon Press, and teaches as a professor of art at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. The Blanton show is organized by Hannah Klemm, the museum's curator of modern and contemporary art.
Her work has been shown at the 12th Berlin Biennale in 2022, MoMA PS1's Greater New York 2021, the Brooklyn Public Library, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, and the Sarasota Art Museum. Along the way, she's picked up the Herb Alpert Award in the Arts in 2024 and the NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Painting in 2021. The exhibition runs from January 17 through September 6, so you've got plenty of time to catch it.
