Cold Waves Festival

Cold Waves returns to Mohawk on Friday, September 18, with a full festival day running across two stages. It's the second time the festival has come to Texas, and this one is presented by Cold Waves, Resound, and Mohawk. The lineup is a long one: Stabbing Westward, Pig, Chalk, 16Volt, Acumen Nation, Spike Hellis, NUXX, Purest Form, and Ponyboy.

Much of the bill is built around 30-year album performances. Stabbing Westward is playing Wither, Blister, Burn and Peel in full, Pig is doing Let Down Crush, and Acumen Nation is bringing Territory = Universe. If you've followed these bands since the mid-nineties, those are the records that defined them, and hearing them played straight through is the main draw here. The rest of the bill fills out the day, so you'll be bouncing between the two stages from the first act to the last.

With nine acts across two stages, it's a long haul of a day rather than a single show. You can pick your favorites and stick with them or spend the whole day moving between the stages. The 30-year album sets are the anchor, but the full lineup—Stabbing Westward, Pig, Chalk, 16Volt, Acumen Nation, Spike Hellis, NUXX, Purest Form, and Ponyboy—gives you plenty to work with. It's a one-day festival, so you'll want to plan your time if you're aiming to catch everything.

Doors open at 7 PM on Friday, September 18, at Mohawk. Tickets are $52, and it's a 17+ event.
