Global Jazz Workshop presents its 3rd Annual All-Star Gala with faculty artists led by tenor saxophonist Chad LB.
Chad LB leads the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown's Bridge Ballroom on Friday, July 31, for the Global Jazz Workshop's 3rd Annual All-Star Gala. It's a big ensemble night, with LB at the helm of the workshop's 2026 Faculty Artists, a group that brings together a dozen musicians from across the jazz world.
If you're not familiar with the names, the lineup reads like a who's who of contemporary jazz. Tenor saxophonist Chad LB, who has played with Chris Botti and Taylor Swift, leads the band. He's joined by trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, a regular with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Dianne Reeves; drummer Ari Hoenig, who has worked with Shirley Scott and Joshua Redman; and bassist Russell Hall, known for his time with Wayne Shorter and Branford Marsalis. Trumpeter Kellin Hanas has played with Tituss Burgess and Dee Dee Bridgewater, and guitarist Ben Eunson has shared stages with Questlove and Lalah Hathaway. On piano is Luther S. Allison, who has worked with Samara Joy and Jazzmeia Horn.
There are voices in the mix too: Kate Kortum has performed with Aaron Diehl and Wynton Marsalis, and Christian Wiggs has appeared on PBS's Jazz Tonight and with Jeff Goldblum. Rounding out the horns are alto saxophonists Ryan Devlin, a member of The 8-Bit Big Band who has also played with Ravi Coltrane, and Nathan Graybeal of Saxologic. It's a full-bodied band—tenor, alto, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass, drums, and two singers—all on the same stage.
