A film festival screening cat videos from animation to music videos, with ticket sales benefiting Austin Pets Alive!
CatVideoFest comes to Hyperreal Film Club on Thursday, August 6, presented by Oscilloscope Laboratories. It's exactly what it sounds like: a compilation of the latest and best cat videos, pulled from countless hours of unique submissions, sourced animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses. The program draws from the laboratory's own stash of clips and covers every genre from animation to music videos and internet staples, so it's not just the same old viral clips you've already seen on your feed.
The format is a touring one, and each year, local theaters across the country partner with nearby cat-focused charities, animal welfare associations, and shelters. Ten percent of ticket sales go to those local partners. For the Austin screening, that partner is Austin Pets Alive!, so a portion of your ticket goes directly to them.
Hosting the night is Hyperreal Film Club, an Austin collective that specializes in creating unique movie-watching experiences in unusual, thoughtful, and immersive pop-up environments, and in amplifying local artists. They're the ones bringing the whole thing to life here in town.
