A monthly community walking group led by the Mexican American Cultural Center, exploring the grounds to discover stories, public art and history.
Casa de la Cultura is hosting Caminata con Calma at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center on Saturday, September 26, from 10 AM to 12 PM. It's a monthly community walking group led by the MACC, built around community, movement and learning. The group strolls the trail around the center's grounds to discover the stories, public art and history of the space, guided by the philosophy de poquito a poquito—one step at a time.
The walk is designed to be relaxed and accessible, and it's pet-friendly, so you can bring your dog along. It's open to anyone who wants to connect with neighbors, with culture and with the spaces they share. An RSVP is required, and walkers are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle and outdoor walking attire.
The walk takes place at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center, which reopened to the public on June 6, 2026, after Phase 2 of its 2018 Facility Expansion Plan—a grand reopening called Juntos de Nuevo. The center is dedicated to the preservation, creation, presentation and promotion of the cultural arts of Mexican Americans and Latino cultures, and its galleries are free to visit during operating hours.
