Second annual celebration of queer masculinity featuring a live pageant, drag performances, dancing, and community vendors in Austin.
Butch Prom returns to Elysium on Saturday, July 25, for its second annual edition. This one is built around The Butch Pageant, hosted by Bobby Pudrido and judged by Travis Randy Travis, Hurricane Short King, Flex Brojas, and Damiana Divine. The pageant is the main event, and it's paired with drag performances, dancing, and community awards presented by Ed West. For music, there's a special performance by Tenderoni, with Schi The God and DJ MIH0 keeping the dance floor moving.
Beyond the stage, there are a few local vendors set up. Cowboi Dukes is doing bootblacking, presented by OUTsider Fest; Andi's Fade Society is giving buzzcuts; and The Little Gay Shop has a pop-up shop running throughout the night. The whole project is supported in part by an Elevate Grant from Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment.
Butch Prom is an Austin-based celebration of queer masculinity in all its forms. It started as a way to create joyful, affirming, community-centered spaces where butches, masc folks, studs, trans people, and gender-expansive community members can connect, be seen, and celebrate together. The organizers describe this second edition as the only way to celebrate queer masculinity.

One practical note: the stage used for the pageant includes stairs and isn't currently ADA accessible. The night runs from 9 PM to 11:30 PM at Elysium, 705 Red River Street, Austin, TX 78701.
