Bring It On

Bring It On screens at The State Theatre on Saturday, August 8, as part of the Paramount Summer Classic Film Series. The movie is a turn-of-the-millennium coming-of-age favorite: a champion high school cheerleading squad discovers its previous captain stole all its best routines from another school. It's a 98-minute color film from 2000, directed by Peyton Reed and starring Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku, Jesse Bradford, and Gabrielle Union.

The screening is part of the series hosted by the Paramount Theatre, which has stood on Congress Avenue in downtown Austin for more than a century. Built in 1915, it's the city's oldest surviving theatre and a City of Austin and State Landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It started as a vaudeville and variety house, and it still stages comedy, drama, music, dance, spoken word, children's programming, and films, drawing more than 200,000 patrons a year. It's also one of the few remaining 'hemp houses' in America, still working with ropes and sandbags, and it plays host to the Moontower Comedy Festival. The Paramount operates alongside The State Theatre next door under The Austin Theatre Alliance, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

This particular screening takes place at The State Theatre, located at 713 Congress in downtown Austin. Doors open at 6 PM and the show starts at 7 PM.
