A celebration of romance novels featuring free books, community activities, a themed cafe menu, and a 'Blind Date with a Book' activity.
BookPeople is dedicating a whole day to romance novels on Saturday, August 15, with Bookstore Romance Day running from 9 AM to 9 PM at 603 North Lamar Boulevard. It's a full-day celebration built around free books, community activities and a themed cafe menu, so you can drop in for an hour or hang out for the afternoon.
The centerpiece is 'Blind Date with a Book,' where romance novels are wrapped so you can't see the cover, each paired with a few clues to help you match with your next favorite. The stock comes out at the 9 AM opening and is replenished at 10 AM, 12 PM and 2 PM, and there are no reservations—first come, first served. Beyond that, the day includes staff romance recommendations, a selection of YA romance titles, free books and ARCs with purchase, and a station for making your own recommendation cards.
If you're 21 or older, there's a free wine tasting with Phantom Wines from 11 AM to 2 PM. They're running it under the tagline that the mystery and artistry of wine can transport you to another time and place, just as a great book does. Between the tasting and the books, it's a good excuse to spend a Saturday morning in the romance section.
