Book signing with the author of South Bend to Spring Valley: The Davids-Sims Story.
Vintage Bookstore & Wine Bar is hosting a book signing for South Bend to Spring Valley: The Davids-Sims Story on Saturday, October 17, from 7:30 to 10 PM. The author will be there in person, and the night is built around the book itself.
There's a pretty heavy story behind how this one came together. Joyce Christianson had wanted to write about her childhood and her family's friendship with the Sims since she was five years old, but failing health eventually got in the way. Her husband, Eric, took over the project as her deathbed wish and finished what she had started. The result is the story of two families—one Black and one white—whose bond reshaped racial attitudes in 1960s America. It's a personal history that grew out of a lifelong dream, and the signing is a chance to hear more about it from the person who brought it to the finish line.
