Family-friendly Halloween event at the Austin Zoo with a spooky night tour, haunted house, animal show, Halloween games and a children's musical.
Boo at the Zoo returns to the Austin Zoo this October, turning the grounds into a family-friendly Halloween celebration on Friday and Saturday nights. It runs throughout the month, with dates on October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, and 24, from 5:45 to 9 PM.
The evening is built around a few main attractions. You can ride the Spooky Train, walk through the Haunted House, and find Halloween-themed activities and games spread across the zoo. There's also a Picnic Grove where families can bring their own dinner and hang out between the activities.
Depending on which night you go, the live entertainment changes. The first two weekends—October 2, 3, 9, and 10—feature a creepy-crawly animal show. The latter half of the month—October 16, 17, 23, and 24—switches to Bubbles!, a children's musical by Scotty Roo. If you're bringing kids, it's worth picking the date that fits their interests best.
