Birth of Venus: Poetry, Storytelling, Music & Burlesque

Red Light Lit is back at the 29th Street Ballroom on Sunday, July 26, with a show called Birth of Venus. It's a sensual evening that weaves together poetry, storytelling, music, and burlesque, all under one roof. The night is built around themes of rebirth, divine love, and the possibilities of a new era, with each performer sharing their own personal mythology.

That mix of styles is the whole point of the night. You'll hear poetry and storytelling sitting right alongside music and burlesque, rather than one taking over from the other. The performers are Alexi8bit, Amaijah, Jorbinx, Khánh-Vy, Ryan Rutkoskie, Albion Moonlight, Abel Lopez, and Loria Mendoza, with more to be added. Each one brings their own take to the theme, so the set moves from one voice to the next throughout the evening.

It's a Red Light Lit production, and the show is supported in part by an Elevate Grant from Austin Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment. The whole thing runs from 7 PM to 9 PM at the 29th Street Ballroom, so it's a two-hour window to catch the full lineup.
