Ben Jones plays his solo songs with a full band at The 04 Center, with the Austin duo Lemongrass opening.
Ben Jones brings his solo catalogue to The 04 Center on Wednesday, November 11, with an all-star band behind him. It's the first time he's taken these songs to the stage with a full band, and he's drawing from two different records to build the set: 2022's Souvenir, which featured guitar from Telecaster legend Bill Kirchen and David Jimenez, and songs from his forthcoming album, The Heartbreak Handbook, recorded with his late friend and collaborator Chris Gage.
Jones is a Kent-born, Austin-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who moved from making records and fronting bands in England to becoming part of the local musical community. With Beat Root Revival, he signed to Surfdog Records, released UP, received a Sonic Guild grant, and toured with Brian Wilson, the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Jeff Bridges, and The Fixx. His songs and co-writes have appeared on releases by Kelley Mickwee, Michael Hearne, Natalie Price, Shawnee Kilgore, Giulia Millanta, and Pat Byrne. This show is the first time he's brought that solo material to the stage with a full band.
Opening the night is Lemongrass, the new Austin duo of Taylor Rae and Sam Hodgson, who call their sound "Sour Folk."
