Classic Halloween film with Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara and Michael Keaton, a Tim Burton original, screened at Alamo Drafthouse Village.
Beetlejuice screens at Alamo Drafthouse Village on Friday, October 2, with showtimes at 3:50 PM and 10:15 PM. It's Tim Burton's 1988 original, a Halloween classic that balances horror, fantasy and comedy, and it's carried by an iconic cast: Winona Ryder as goth princess Lydia Deetz, Catherine O'Hara as her mother Delia and Michael Keaton as the titular lecherous monstrosity. Burton wrote the screenplay himself, so the whole thing is his vision from the ground up.
The screening is at the longest continuously operated Drafthouse in the city, which opened on Anderson Lane in 2001. It's a four-screen cinema that specializes in first-run features and uses Sony 4K digital projection. It also houses much of the American Genre Film Archive, a collection that lets the theater program 35mm screenings alongside digital ones. A recent revamp added new padded chairs, shared tables for food and drink delivered during the show and a new patio for outdoor drinking. The venue was named the Austin Chronicle Readers Poll's best movie theatre in 2025.
