Concert by the Austin-based Americana and folk singer-songwriter Barbara Nesbitt at Vino Volo.
Barbara Nesbitt plays Vino Volo on Monday, September 28, at 11:15 AM. It's a solo set, so it's just her and her guitar, and since it's at the airport, it's the kind of show you can catch if you're passing through or if you're just hanging out near the terminal.
Nesbitt is an Americana and folk singer-songwriter based right here in Austin, and she's coming off her fifth album, Someday, Maybe Sooner. She didn't start here, though — she's originally from Stone Mountain, Georgia, and co-founded the breakout band The Whiskey Sisters. Along the way, she's sung background vocals for Willie Nelson and Bob Weir, so she's worked her way through some pretty heavy-hitting circles before settling into her own thing.
Her voice and her songwriting have earned her some local recognition: she's placed in the top five for Best Female Singer and the top three for Best Songwriter at the Austin Music Awards. She describes her songs as reflective of her life, the kind that make listeners laugh, cry, think and feel. That's a wide range for one set, but it fits the folk tradition she's working in.

Since this is a solo performance, you'll hear her voice and her guitar without any backing band to fill in the gaps. It's a good way to get a clear look at the songwriting that's been getting her those awards. The show is at Vino Volo, inside the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at 3600 Presidential Blvd, starting at 11:15 AM on Monday, September 28.
