A pop-up market owned and operated by local Austin artists with mystical aesthetics, selling handmade wares.
Austin Mystical Market returns to The Buzz Mill on Friday, October 9, from 7 PM to 11 PM. It's a pop-up market owned and operated by the artists who vend there, run as a collective of makers and artisans with mystical aesthetics who say they set out to bring more whimsy to the world.
There are a couple of things that set this apart from your average craft fair. First, every vendor has to be directly involved in the production of their wares—nothing is just bought and resold. Second, the organizers curate the market through vendor-call applications to make sure no single medium crowds out the rest, so you'll find a variety of different crafts rather than a room full of the same thing. All the fees go back into promoting the event for the artists' benefit.
It's pitched as a way to explore the work of local Austin artists and creatives, and since it's a collective, the people behind the tables are the same ones running the show. The night is open to all ages, so it works as a date or something to bring the kids along to. Parking is free at the venue, which is one less thing to worry about on a Friday night.
