Austin FC faces Club Tijuana in the opening match of the Leagues Cup 2026 tournament at Q2 Stadium.
Austin FC opens its Leagues Cup campaign at Q2 Stadium on Thursday, August 6, taking on Club Tijuana at 8 PM. It's the first of three home matches for the club in Phase One, with Club Puebla visiting on Sunday, August 9, and Club América coming in on Thursday, August 13.
If you're not familiar with the tournament, the Leagues Cup is a Concacaf-sanctioned competition that pits 36 clubsâ18 from Liga MX and 18 from MLSâagainst each other in a fully interleague format. Austin FC earned its spot by making the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2025. The stakes run higher than just the group stage: the tournament awards three spots in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup, and the champion gets a direct place in the Round of 16.
This isn't Austin's first time around. Back in 2024, the club picked up wins over Pumas UNAM and CF Monterrey, so there's a bit of a track record here when it comes to facing Liga MX sides. This time, the first three matches all happen at Q2, which makes it easy to catch the whole opening stretch without leaving town.

Beyond the pitch, the club is using the tournament to show off its 2026 secondary jersey, 'The Rooted Kit.' They describe it as being inspired by Austin's natural beauty and the city's resilient, outdoor spirit. If you're heading to the stadium, you'll likely see it on the supporters around the stands. The action kicks off Thursday, August 6, at 8 PM CT at Q2 Stadium.
