ATX Short Film Showcase 5th Annual Awards Show

The ATX Short Film Showcase is holding its 5th annual awards show at the 29th Street Ballroom on Monday, August 24. It's an Austin-based celebration of local short filmmaking, and this year marks five years of the showcase. The whole night is built around the twelve audience award winners from the festival's fifth season, all screened back-to-back in one program.

There's a fifteen-minute intermission breaking up the lineup, so you'll have a chance to stretch your legs and talk through what you've seen before the second half kicks in. The crowd decides the night's top honor, 'Best Short Film in Texas,' which comes with a $500 prize. Since the audience is the one voting, you're not just watching—you're part of the decision.

Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the show starts promptly at 7:00 PM, so it's worth getting there a bit early if you want to settle in. The award ceremony follows at 10:00 PM, after all twelve films have run. It's a full evening of local shorts, from the first screening through to the final winner.
