ATX Short Film Showcase

ATX Short Film Showcase is back at 29th Street Ballroom on Monday, August 10, for another edition of its monthly film festival. It's a LGBTQ+ short film showcase that focuses on filmmakers from across Texas, the kind of artists who work with passion and grit and don't need a big budget to tell a story worthy of the silver screen. The night is built around a curated selection of local short films, and once the screening wraps, the filmmakers stick around for a Q&A, which gives the audience a chance to hear from the people behind the work.

That Q&A is a good part of the draw. It turns the screening into something more than just watching a few films in a row—you get to ask questions, hear how the stories came together, and see the filmmakers respond in person. For the directors themselves, it's a platform to screen their work before a live audience, get feedback, and network with other filmmakers in the city. The screenings take place inside the legendary Ballroom ATX, and there's a full bar available inside and food trucks on site, so you can grab a drink or some food before you settle in. The showcase runs from 8 PM to 10 PM, with doors opening at 7:30 PM, and tickets are $12.
