Live music night at the Hole in the Wall, a free Tuesday happy hour event for over-21s.
Andrew Duplantis Band plays Hole in the Wall on Tuesday, September 8, starting at 6 PM. They're sharing the bill with Paul Minor, so you'll get two acts for the price of one.
If you've spent any time around the Drag, you know the venue. Hole in the Wall opened in 1974 on the Austin campus as a folkie hangout and a favorite stage for Townes Van Zandt, Nanci Griffith, and Blaze Foley. Over the decades, it shifted toward punk, cosmic country, and alternative, launching the careers of Timbuk3, Fastball, Spoon, and Shakey Graves. It's still a two-stage dive with a collective capacity of a couple hundred, and it keeps live music going every night. It briefly shuttered in 2002 and came dangerously close to being priced out in 2015, but it's still here.
This particular night runs as a free Tuesday happy hour for over-21s, which is a good way to describe the whole thing: a low-stakes Tuesday evening with live music and drinks. The Andrew Duplantis Band headlines, with Paul Minor on the bill as well. It's the kind of night that works just as well if you're there for the music as it does if you're just looking for a spot to hang out on a Tuesday.
