A trans and lesbian-centric drag show themed around classic Nicktoons, performed by Tiny Taurus and Miss Steelya Girl.
Tiny Taurus and Miss Steelya Girl are bringing their drag show, And They Were Roommates, to Rain on 4th on Wednesday, July 22. It's a trans and lesbian-centric night, and this particular edition is built around the Nicktoons of yore—the classic Nickelodeon cartoons from the 90s and early 2000s. If you grew up on Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, The Angry Beavers, or Ren & Stimpy, that's the territory they're working with here.
Tiny Taurus and Miss Steelya Girl are the two behind the show, and they're also the ones on the bill. The whole thing is built around their performances, and the Nicktoons theme runs through the night. It's a specific kind of nostalgia—the kind of cartoons that defined a whole generation of Saturday mornings—reimagined through a trans and lesbian lens. If you've got a soft spot for the old Nick lineup, you'll recognize the references as they go.

It's a late one, too. The show starts at 10:30 PM at Rain on 4th, 217 W. Fourth, right in downtown Austin. Since it's a Wednesday night, it's a mid-week outing rather than a weekend one, so you can get your fix of drag and 90s cartoons without having to clear your whole Friday. If you're in the downtown area, it's an easy enough walk or ride over. The show kicks off at 10:30 PM, so you've got plenty of time to get settled before the first act takes the stage.
