Pierce Abernathy is coming to Nixta Taqueria on Thursday, September 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. The evening celebrates the release of his debut cookbook, Every Leaf, Every Stem, which centers on fresh, seasonal produce and draws on his Armenian heritage. Alice Waters wrote the foreword.
It's a book about the versatility of vegetables, with recipes that shift through the seasons: panzanella with peaches and fried basil for summer, and squash soup with kimchi and nori croutons for winter. It follows his James Beard Award-winning Food Is A Feeling, a story-driven collection of 65 recipes and 30 essays that frames cooking and eating as an expression of self-care.
Abernathy is a recipe developer, content creator, and model based in Brooklyn. He's walked in Gucci's SS22 Love Parade runway show and produced and edited videos for BuzzFeed and the New York Times. The night at Nixta Taqueria is a relaxed gathering of conversation and company, with a short welcome from the author around 6:00 PM. The restaurant's full a la carte menu is available throughout the evening.
