Almost Famous - A Soundtrack Party

Hotel Vegas & The Volstead Lounge is hosting Almost Famous - A Soundtrack Party on Friday, August 28, from 9 PM to 1 AM. The night is put on by The Nothing Song and Surprise Surprise, and the whole thing is built around live performances of film themes.

Four bands take the stage throughout the night, each tackling a different movie soundtrack. Ragabash kicks things off at 9:30 PM with Kill Bill, followed by Moving Panoramas at 10:15 PM playing The Royal Tenenbaums. Gilded Lows takes over at 11 PM with Blue Velvet, and Black Books closes it out at 11:45 PM with The Virgin Suicides. That's four soundtracks in one night, and the sets are spaced close enough that you can catch them all without much of a gap between.

It's not just the music on stage. Shelushy, drip//cuts, and TV EYE MEDIA are providing visuals throughout the evening, so there's something to look at while the bands work through the scores. The whole thing runs from 9 PM until 1 AM, and it's a 21+ event.

Tickets are $15, and the venue is at 1502 E 6th St in Austin. If you're planning to stay for the whole run, the music starts with Ragabash at 9:30 PM and wraps up with Black Books around midnight.
