Concert by American folk-rock artist Aaron Lee Tasjan, with special guest Madeleine Kelson, at The 04 Center in Austin.
Aaron Lee Tasjan plays The 04 Center on Friday, September 25, with Nashville Americana artist Madeleine Kelson opening. Tasjan is a pop and folk songwriter, and the set will draw from his latest album, Get Over It, Underdog.
There's a specific story behind that record. Tasjan has described it as his most inspiring to date, and it came together after a bout of imposter syndrome led him to ask folk-rock songwriter Todd Snider for advice. Snider's reply grew into a novel-length guide that helped Tasjan write the album and rediscover his confidence. He produced the record himself, with engineer Mark Miller, and has cited John Prine as an early influence. Snider died shortly after the album was finished.
Opening guest Madeleine Kelson is a Nashville-based Americana artist. Her 2018 EP Siren drew comparisons to Amos Lee and Gillian Welch, and she won the 2017 IBMA Songwriter Showcase. Her 2022 album While I Was Away was a Kerrville New Folk finalist.
