AARC Exhibit Reception: The Mesh Threshold

Swathi Konduri is holding a reception for her exhibit The Mesh Threshold at the Asian American Resource Center (AARC) on Saturday, July 25, from 11 AM to 1 PM. It's a chance to walk through the show, hear the artist talk about the work, and get a bit more than just a look at the walls.

Beyond the talk, there's a collage and assemblage project tied to the exhibit. You can work on your own piece and either take it home or add it to the display, so you're contributing something to the room rather than just passing through. Light refreshments are served on a first-come, first-served basis.

The AARC is a space for Asian American communities in Austin and beyond, and it does a fair amount of work that doesn't always make the headlines. It's a place for rental space, cultural and educational programming, health and wellness initiatives, and curated art and history exhibitions. Throughout the year, it hosts things like the annual CelebrASIA festival in May, the Hyphenated Book Club, the Tones Fest music series, and creative arts workshops. Its Community Art Exhibit Program keeps work by Asian American Pacific Islander artists on the walls year-round. The facility itself is currently being expanded with a new pavilion, movable wall partitions, and stormwater improvements.

The Mesh Threshold is part of that ongoing exhibit program. The reception runs from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, July 25, at the AARC, 8401 Cameron Road in Austin. It's free and open to the public, though you'll need to RSVP.
