36th annual Thanksgiving morning Turkey Trot with a 5-mile run, 1-mile walk, and kids' activities, raising funds for Caritas of Austin.
The 36th Annual ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot returns to The Long Center on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2026. It's the largest 5-mile run in Texas, a Thanksgiving tradition that brings together more than 26,000 participants and 700 volunteers every year. It started back in 1991 with just 600 runners, and since then it's grown into a massive community effort that's raised more than $6 million for Caritas of Austin, the charity it's supported since the very beginning. Every dollar raised goes straight to Caritas' work to end homelessness.
There's a distance for however you want to spend your morning. The main event is the 5-mile run, but there's also a 1-mile walk and the Stepping Stone School Kids K for the little ones. If you can't make it to the Long Center in person, there's a virtual option so you can run or walk at your own pace from wherever you are. On the day, there's a raffle for a new Honda Accord three-year lease, donated by First Texas Honda. Packet pickup runs across several Austin locations in the weeks leading up to the race, so you can grab yours early rather than waiting until the morning of.
