29th Street Block Party

Resound Presents is putting on a block party at the 29th Street Ballroom on Saturday, August 29, and it's an all-ages, free event. The music takes over the ballroom and Tweedy's, so there's plenty of room to move between the two.

The lineup is a long one. On the live side, you've got ideasforconversations, Haha Laughing, deepstate, and Almost Heaven. The DJs keep things moving throughout the day: DJ Garty, DJ Impotent Fetus, and a Velvet Underground tribute. There's also a subculture swap going on, so if you're into trading records, zines, or gear, that's a good reason to show up early and hang out.

It's a block party in the truest sense—live bands, DJs, and a swap meet all in one spot. Since it's all ages, you can bring the kids along without worrying about a late-night crowd or a cover charge. Doors open at 6 PM, and it's free, so you can drop in for one set or stay for the whole thing.
