Author Joanne Telcide-Bryant shares her holiday-themed children's book in the Change Agent Adventure gallery, followed by literacy-focused activities.
Joanne Telcide-Bryant will be reading her holiday-themed children's book at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights on Saturday, November 14, at 11 AM. The session takes place in the Change Agent Adventure gallery, which is part of the Center's Saturday Adventures, their family-friendly Saturday programming.
Telcide-Bryant describes her book as being filled with gratitude, family traditions, and festive cheer. It's a literacy-heavy read, packed with more than 1,200 words, a glossary, and interactive learning elements. After she reads it aloud, the session moves into literacy-focused activities, including discussion questions and reading-comprehension exercises. She also points readers toward her website, Foster Critical Thinking for Children with Josh & Nelly's Books.
The reading happens inside Change Agent Adventure: The Children's Gallery, an interactive 'secret headquarters' designed for children 12 and under. It's built around hands-on play, creative problem-solving, and experiences meant to build empathy, courage, and confidence in young changemakers. Each Saturday brings something new to the gallery: storytime sessions led by authors once a month, plus hands-on crafts and interactive museum activities.
