Live show by Sammy Rae & The Friends at The Eastern in Atlanta, with special guest Melt.
Sammy Rae & The Friends are playing The Eastern on Friday, October 30, with New York indie band Melt opening. The show starts at 8 PM, and The Eastern is over in Reynoldstown at 800 Old Flat Shoals Rd SE.
If you're not familiar with Melt, they've been around since 2017 and describe their sound as feel-good, existential pop and soulful rock. Their debut album, If There's a Heaven, was produced by Sam Evian and includes tracks like "Plant the Garden" and "Your Name." The single "Sour Candy" brought them early attention, and they've toured with Grouplove and Lawrence. NPR has praised their groovy sound, which fits the bill for a night that leans into the danceable side of indie.
As for the venue, The Eastern is a state-of-the-art, special-purpose-built space in the Dairies Complex in Reynoldstown. It's a newer addition to the neighborhood, designed specifically for music, so you're getting a room built for sound rather than a converted warehouse. Between the two acts, it's a full evening of live music in one of the city's newer dedicated venues.
