Hands-on Nikkei ceviche class with Executive Chef Mayra DomĂnguez at Madre Selva's Chef's Table, paired with three sakes and a Nikka Whisky Sour.
Madre Selva is hosting a Nikkei ceviche and sake class on Monday, November 2, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Executive Chef Mayra DomĂnguez leads the session at the restaurant's Chef's Table, where you'll build your own Nikkei ceviche step by step. It's a hands-on class, so you're doing the work yourself rather than just watching.
The focus is Nikkei cuisine, which grew from Japanese families who settled in Peru and made Peruvian ingredients their own. The class works through that marriage: Peruvian lime and ajĂ balanced with Japanese touches like soy and sesame. You'll walk through the process of assembling the ceviche, and as you go, you'll pair it with three different sakes and a Nikka Whisky Sour. The drinks are part of the experience, not just on the side.
