Monthly alternate-reality variety show where music, comedy, burlesque, drag, storytelling and magic are performed by monsters in an immersive themed night.
Monster Show For Monsters is back at Red Light Cafรฉ on Monday, October 19, as part of its monthly series that runs on the third Monday of every month. It's an alternate-reality variety show that pulls from a few different worlds at once: music, comedy, burlesque, drag, storytelling, and magic, with every act performed by monsters.
The show bills itself as the only one where the audience, the cast, and the crew are all monsters, and it's run as an immersive themed experience curated and maintained by its monster inhabitants. That immersive side starts before the main show even kicks off: the night opens with a cocktail hour and a monster photo booth, so it's the kind of thing that works better if you get there early and settle in rather than sliding in right as the first act starts.
Because it's a variety show, you're getting a lot of different styles in one night. The music, comedy, burlesque, drag, storytelling, and magic are all handled by the monster cast, so the variety comes as much from the mix of acts as it does from the theme. If you've never seen it, that's a good way to think about itโa whole night of different kinds of performance, all tied together by the same alternate-reality premise.
