Weekly Thursday live music session at the Loews Atlanta Hotel with Joseph E. Reed, The One Man Orchestra, playing violin, guitar and live loops.
Joseph E. Reed plays Ashland on Thursday, October 29, as part of the Midtown Sessions series. He performs under the name The One Man Orchestra, and the title isn't a stretch: he carries the whole evening alone, layering violin, guitar and live loops to build his sound as he goes.
If you're not familiar with how that works in practice, it's a bit of a process to watch. He doesn't just play a song and move on; he records a part, lets it loop, and then plays over the top of it, adding another layer and another until a single person sounds like a small ensemble. The violin and guitar are the two voices he works with, and the loops are what glue them together into something larger than one instrument.
Midtown Sessions is a weekly live music series at the Loews Atlanta Hotel, and the organizers bill it as the perfect Thursday night soundtrack. It's a regular fixture in the neighborhood, so this is one night in a longer run of shows rather than a one-off. Reed takes the stage on his own, and the set is built around that loop-based approach—violin, guitar, and the layers he builds on top of them.

Ashland is located inside the Loews Atlanta Hotel in Midtown. The music runs from 6 PM to 8 PM, so it's an early evening set that wraps up well before the night is over.
