Free public concert of wind band repertoire by the student-run KKPsi Wind Ensemble at the Georgia State University School of Music.
KKPsi Wind Ensemble plays at the Florence Kopleff Recital Hall on Monday, October 19, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It's a concert of wind band repertoire, and the whole thing runs about an hour.
What makes this one a bit different from your usual university recital is who's behind it. The KKPsi Wind Ensemble is a student-run group organized by members of Kappa Kappa Psi, the national honorary band service fraternity. Rather than a faculty-led ensemble, this is put together by the students themselves, who handle the programming and the organizing. The concert takes place at the Georgia State University School of Music, so it's a student-led project happening right inside the school's own music department.
As for what you'll hear, the program is built around wind band repertoire—works written specifically for a wind ensemble rather than a full orchestra. The ensemble brings together the woodwinds, brass, and percussion that make up the wind band sound, and the performance is about an hour long, so it's a relatively short commitment for a Monday night.
