A student-led outdoor fashion show with runway presentations, music and student participation at Unity Plaza, celebrating creativity, culture and artistic expression.
Fashion Beyond the Runway comes to Hurt Park on Tuesday, October 20, with the Unity Fashion Show as its center. It's a student-led outdoor show, hosted by Safiyeh Mahbubi, and it takes place at Unity Plaza, 25 Courtland St. SE in Atlanta.
The show puts original student fashion designs into a professional runway format, so the clothes you'll see are made by students, not pulled from a rack. It's an outdoor production that mixes those runway presentations with music and student participation, and the whole thing is built around celebrating creativity, culture, confidence, and artistic expression. The organizers describe it as a way for participants to engage with art, design, and entrepreneurship, and they frame the day around diversity, community engagement, and positive student life.
Because it's outdoors at Unity Plaza, the atmosphere is open and public rather than tucked away in a theater. The runway is the main event, but the music and the student involvement running alongside it make it more of a community gathering than a traditional fashion show. It's a student-run production from the ground up, so the designs on the runway come from the same community putting on the show.
