If you're not familiar with the name, Frizzi is an Italian composer, orchestrator, and conductor with more than a hundred film and television scores to his credit. His writing reaches back to the Baroque era and draws on composers like Nino Rota, Carlo Rustichelli, Ennio Morricone, and J.S. Bach. He first broke through with the Italian comedy Fantozzi, and from 1976 to 1979 he worked in a composers' trio with Franco Bixio and Vince Tempera, collaborating with directors like Lucio Fulci, Luciano Salce, and Steno.
His partnership with Fulci, which ran from 1975 to 1990, became the defining thread of his career. Together they produced the scores for The Beyond, The City of the Living Dead, Zombie 2, and The Seven Notes in Blackβthe main theme of which Quentin Tarantino used in Kill Bill: Vol. 1. In 2003, he published his autobiography, Fabio Frizzi - Backstage di un compositore. Since 2016, he's recorded music inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and E.A. Poe with Cadabra Records, and he's been taking his shows worldwide since 2013.
