Behind-the-scenes encounter with Zoo Atlanta's African elephants, Tara and Kelly, with a Zoo Educator introduction, a tour of the care team and a chance to hand-feed an elephant.
Zoo Atlanta is running its Elephant Wild Encounter through the end of the year, and the next one is this Monday, October 19, at the Zambezi Elephant Center. It's a behind-the-scenes experience with the zoo's African elephants, Tara and Kelly, who serve as ambassadors for their species.
The encounter starts with a Zoo Educator, who introduces the animals and explains why they're such important ambassadors. From there, you go backstage to meet members of the Elephant Care Team and learn how elephants are cared for at the zoo. The walk ends with a chance to hand-feed one of the girls an afternoon snack.
It's open to guests aged 4 and up, and children 15 and under need to be accompanied by a ticketed adult. Advance registration is recommended because availability is limited.

The encounter runs Sunday, Monday, Friday, and Saturday at 2 PM through December 31, 2026, at the Zambezi Elephant Center, 800 Cherokee Ave. Tickets are $130 plus zoo admission, or $117 for members.
