Broadway musical comedy BOOP! presented by Regions Bank Broadway in Atlanta, directed by Jerry Mitchell.
BOOP! The Musical opens at the Fox Theatre on Tuesday, January 12, as part of the Broadway in Atlanta series presented by Regions Bank. It runs through Sunday, January 17, with performances nearly every night of the week.
The show is a new musical comedy built around Betty Boop, the character who's been a household name for nearly a century. The story follows her dream of taking an ordinary day off from being a super-celebrity in her black-and-white world, which lands her in a bright and bubbly adventure of color, music, and love in New York City. If you grew up with the cartoon, it's a pretty straightforward premise: the character you know gets a day off and ends up in a different kind of world than the one she started in.
Behind it is a creative team of Broadway veterans. Jerry Mitchell directs and choreographs, and you might recognize his name from Kinky Boots, La Cage aux Folles, and Hairspray. The music is by multiple Grammy winner David Foster, with lyrics by Tony nominee Susan Birkenhead and a book by Tony winner Bob Martin. It's a full musical production, so you'll get the songs and the dancing along with the story.
