Free online session exploring Chapter 11 of the Bhagavad Gita within the Bhagavad Gita Decoded series.
Bhagavad Gita Decoded is back on Wednesday, October 28, with a session focused on Chapter 11 of the Bhagavad Gita. It's part of the larger Bhagavad Gita Decoded program, which works its way through the text chapter by chapter, so this one picks up where the previous sessions left off.
Chapter 11 is one of the most famous stretches of the whole book. It's the moment where Krishna reveals his universal form to Arjuna—the Vishwarupa—and the scale of it is pretty hard to wrap your head around. Arjuna sees the entire universe, all of time and all of existence, contained within a single form. It's a heavy, visually overwhelming sequence that shifts the conversation from a dialogue about duty and war to something much larger and more cosmic. If you've been following along, this is the part where the stakes move from the battlefield of Kurukshetra to the nature of the universe itself.
Because it's part of a series, you don't need to have caught every single previous session to get something out of it, but it helps to know that the program is decoding the text piece by piece. The session will walk through the chapter's verses and the ideas they raise, so it's as much about the specific text as it is about the broader themes the program has been building toward.
