An open streets event closing three miles of Georgia Avenue and Ralph David Abernathy Blvd to cars for walking, biking, and interactive activities.
Atlanta Streets Alive returns to the Southwest route from West End to Grant Park on Sunday, October 18, from 2 to 6 PM. It's a car-free afternoon that turns three miles of Georgia Avenue and Ralph David Abernathy Blvd into a zone for walking, biking, and interactive activities. The whole point is to let residents opt out of Atlanta's traffic for a few hours and experience the streets in a safer, healthier, and more livable way.
Along the route, community organizations, local businesses, and sponsors set up interactive experiences, so it's more than just a stretch of road to stroll down. Electric bikes and scooters are welcome, and leashed dogs can come along too. If you're of age, cocktails are available to anyone who shows a valid ID. It's the kind of afternoon where you can just roll through at your own pace, stop when something catches your eye, and keep moving without worrying about cars.
This is part of a larger season: Atlanta Streets Alive is an 'open streets' event that takes over a stretch of city road on selected Sunday afternoons, inviting people to stroll, roll, bike, and play. The 2026 season is billed as the most packed yet, with eight events across three routes running from March through November. This particular route runs from West End to Grant Park, and it's one of the dates that closes the city's roads to traffic for the day.

Getting there is easy since the city's transit network serves the area: six MARTA stations and the Atlanta Streetcar at Woodruff Park and Peachtree Center are nearby. Admission is free, and the event runs from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday, October 18.
