WNBA Finals Game 3 between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries at State Farm Arena.
The Atlanta Dream bring the WNBA Finals to State Farm Arena on Wednesday, October 21, for Game 3 against the Golden State Valkyries. It's the first time the city has hosted a Finals game since 2013, so if you've been following the league in Atlanta, this is the one you've been waiting for.
The series follows a best-of-seven, 2-2-1-1-1 format, and the Valkyries entered as the No. 2 seed with the Dream as the No. 4. Games 1 and 2 tip off at Chase Center in San Francisco, and Game 3 is the first of the series to shift to Atlanta. WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert described the venue change as a move that expands seating capacity and ensures the Dream can provide an extraordinary atmosphere for fans across the Southeast. Majority owner Larry Gottesdiener added that the players and fans deserve it.
There's a bit of a scheduling shuffle behind the scenes, too. Atlanta Hawks President Andrew Saltzman noted that the team moved the start time of its regular-season home opener against the Houston Rockets to make room for the Finals games, so the arena is cleared for this. The game tips off at 8 PM ET, with doors opening at 6:30 PM, giving you plenty of time to get in and find your seat before the action starts.
