80s soul and jazz icons Hue & Cry bring their Full Band Scottish Tour to the Music Hall, with special guest Roachford.
Hue & Cry are playing the Music Hall on Friday 23 October, part of their full band Scottish tour. It's a full set from them, and they're bringing a full band to do it, so you'll get the proper sound rather than a stripped-back version. Support is Roachford, who'll open the night.
Hue & Cry started in Glasgow in 1984 around brothers Patrick and Gregory Kane, who took American jazz and soul and made it hip and trendy. Their 1987 debut, Seduced and Abandoned, brought their first top-ten single, 'Labour of Love', and the follow-up Remote turned up hits like 'Looking for Linda' and 'Violently'. Through the nineties, albums like Stars Crash Down, Showtime and Jazz Not Jazz kept them going. A 2005 stint as finalists on ITV's Hit Me Baby One More Time, where they covered Beyoncé's 'Crazy In Love', put them back in the mainstream. They've sold more than two million records worldwide, released 15 studio albums and shared stages with U2, James Brown, Madonna, Al Green and Van Morrison. Last year they were given the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2025 Scottish Music Awards.
Roachford, the support act, had 'Cuddly Toy' reach number four in 1988. They've put out 10 studio albums since then, written for Michael Jackson, Joss Stone and Chaka Khan, and were awarded an MBE in 2019.
