Alison Moyet plays the Music Hall with her band on her 'Songs of Yazoo, the minutes & Other' tour, with songs from Yazoo and her solo albums.
Alison Moyet plays the Music Hall on Saturday 31 October, part of a 34-date headline tour called Songs of Yazoo, the minutes & Other that's been on the road across Europe, the UK and Ireland since September. It's a specific set: the songs come from her time with Yazoo, alongside tracks from her solo electronica albums the minutes (2013) and Other (2017), both produced by and mostly co-written with Guy Sigsworth.
For most of us, the Yazoo side is the familiar part. The songs are drawn from Upstairs At Eric's, which went platinum in the UK and the US, and their parting release You And Me Both, a UK number one. A few of those hits are regulars in her live sets, but much of the rest has rarely been played outside their two brief tours: the 1982 breakthrough and the 2008 Reconnected reunion. The solo material from the minutes and Other sits alongside them, so you'll hear the early synth-pop years and the more recent electronic work in the same evening.
Moyet described the tour as a 'palate refresher' after years of playing the same pool of songs, and the setlist reflects that. She's on stage with her band β Sean McGhee, Brendan Cox and Paul Jones β rather than as a solo act. The Aberdeen date is one of many stops on a run that's taking her through the UK and Ireland this autumn.
