The Lord Mayor and civic party host festive receptions with music, food and festivities for York residents aged 65 and over, running in two sessions.
York Christmas Cheer returns to The Assembly Rooms on Tuesday 1 December, with two separate sessions on the one day: a morning one at 10am and an afternoon one at 2pm. It's hosted by the city's civic party — the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, the Sheriff and the Sheriff's Consort — as a way of sharing the festive season with York's older residents.
Each session welcomes up to 200 guests, so there's room for 400 people across the day. The morning and afternoon slots run separately, which means you can pick the one that suits you best. The sessions bring together festive entertainment, food and the chance to meet new friends, all under the same roof. It's an open invitation to York residents aged 65 and over.
Places are allocated by application and then by random draw, so it's not first-come, first-served. If you're interested, you can collect a paper application form from any York library, from the council's customer centre at West Offices, or from the St Sampson's Centre. There's also an email option if you'd rather not head out to pick one up. All entries need to be in by 16 November, so you've got a few weeks to get yours sorted. Once the deadline passes, the draw decides who gets a place in which session.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in York and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
