The 52nd edition of the York Beer and Cider Festival, featuring over 200 real ales, craft beers, ciders, perries, mead and wines, organised by CAMRA.
The York Beer and Cider Festival returns to St Lawrence Parish Church from 16 to 19 September 2026. It's the 52nd edition of the event, run by the York branch of CAMRA, and the fourth time it's been held at this particular venue. The church is on Lawrence Street, near Walmgate Bar and the City Walls, so it's a short walk from the city centre and easy to get to on public transport.
There's a lot to work through over the four days: over 200 real ales, craft beers, ciders, perries, mead, and wines. This year includes a special collaboration brew with Trig Brewery and a Locale blind-tasting competition, so if you're into the more competitive side of tasting, that's one to keep an eye on. It's a family-friendly setup, with accompanied children welcome until 8pm and dogs on leads allowed in the outside areas.
There's a bit of history behind it, too. The festival goes back to the York CAMRA branch's first headquarters at the Golden Slipper pub in 1974, which also happened to be featured in the very first Good Beer Guide. This is the 52nd time they've put it on, and the fourth year it's been based at St Lawrence.

On the practical side, the event is cashless, so you'll need a card or a device. You also need to bring your own CE-marked glass, though you can buy a souvenir one on-site if you'd rather. Tickets for the general public range from £4.50 to £12.50 depending on the session you go for, and CAMRA members get in free.
